In short
  1. In Notebooks, tap a notebook's name and choose Export as PDF.
  2. In an open notebook, use More to pick which pages go into the PDF.
  3. Summaries don't export as a PDF. You share or copy them as text.

A PDF you can print, save or send to anyone, including people who don't use Hazelnote. Your handwriting comes out sharp, and paper, images and imported PDF pages come along.

The whole notebook from the overview

  1. Open NotebooksOpen the Notebooks area. On a phone, tap it at the bottom. On a tablet, it's in the sidebar.
  2. Open the menuTap the notebook's name below it. In list view, tap the three dots next to it.
  3. ExportChoose Export as PDF. When it says PDF is ready, tap Share and decide whether to print it, save it or send it.

The same menu also has Share. It sends the whole notebook as a PDF straight to your device's share sheet. A whiteboard becomes one page, as big as what's on it.

Export only certain pages

In an open notebook, tap More, the three dots, then Export as PDF. On a tablet, you can also use Share in the toolbar.

Under Which pages?, all pages start out selected. Tap the ones you want to leave out, then tap Done. All pages selects them all again.

More than 40 pagesHere you can pick up to 40 pages at once. To export a longer notebook in full, use the menu in the overview.

Typed documents

You export a typed document from inside the document: tap More, then Export as PDF.

Share summaries as text

Summaries can't be exported as a PDF. You share them as text instead: in the list, tap the three dots next to a summary and choose Share. Copy puts the text on your clipboard, so you can paste it into a text document, for example.

Common questions

Yes. Hazelnote redraws your strokes for the PDF instead of taking a screenshot, so they stay sharp when you zoom in or print.
You can import it into Notebooks like any PDF and write on it. It becomes a new notebook, with your earlier strokes as part of the pages.
Wherever you put it from the share sheet, such as the Files app on iPhone or your Downloads folder on Android. The PDF doesn't show up inside Hazelnote itself.
