In short
  1. Hazelnote is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android.
  2. You create your account after a few quick questions, with Apple, Google or email.
  3. Then you pick Essential or Pro, because the app can't be used without a plan.

The first time you open Hazelnote, it asks a few quick questions so the examples and tips fit you. Then you create your account and choose a plan. Here's how that works, and how to sign in on another device later.

Download the app

Get Hazelnote from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, or from Google Play on your Android device. Hazelnote runs on iOS 16 or later and Android 7 or later. You'll find links to both stores on our download page.

Create your account

  1. Answer a few questionsOpen the app and tap Let’s go. Tell Hazelnote whether you'll use it for learning or for work, then answer a few quick questions.
  2. Choose how to sign upAt the end you'll see Almost there. Tap Continue with Apple, Continue with Google or Continue with email.
  3. Pick a planNext, Hazelnote shows you the plans. The app opens once you have Essential or Pro.

With email, you enter your address and a password of at least 8 characters, twice. Then tap Create account.

Apple sign-in is iPhone and iPad onlyContinue with Apple is only available on iPhone and iPad. If you also want to use Hazelnote on an Android device, sign up with Google or email instead.

Pick a plan

Once your account is set up, you'll see the Essential and Pro plans. There's no free plan. Whether you can try a plan for free first, and for how long, is shown right on the plan before you buy. You pay through the App Store or Google Play.

See what each plan includes on our pricing page. How trying it out works is covered in The free trial.

Get started togetherRight after you subscribe, Hazelnote asks What would you like to do first? Pick something and the app walks you through it step by step. More in Create your first note.

Sign in on another device

Install Hazelnote on the second device and tap I already have an account. Sign in the same way you did the first time: Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google or email and password. Your plan belongs to your account, so it works on the new device too.

Forgot your password? Enter your email address on the sign-in screen and tap Forgot password?. We'll send you a link to reset it.

Common questions

There's no Hazelnote account for that Apple or Google account yet. Maybe you signed up a different way the first time, for example with email. New accounts are created through Let’s go and the first few questions.
Check that you're signed in with the account you bought with. Otherwise, tap Restore purchases at the bottom.
At the bottom of the plans screen you'll find Sign out and Delete account. What deleting does is explained on Delete account.
There are two plans, Essential and Pro, each with several billing periods. Current prices are on our pricing page and in the app.
