In short
  1. You create a folder through New summary, then Folder.
  2. To move a summary, tap its three dots and choose Move to folder.
  3. The same folders also show up under Notebooks.

The more summaries you have, the more folders help. Here's how to create them, move summaries into them and sort your list.

Create a folder

  1. Open the menuIn Summaries, tap New summary.
  2. Choose FolderTap Folder.
  3. Name itUnder New folder, type a name, pick a color and, if you like, a symbol. Then tap Done.

If you create a folder while another folder is open, it goes inside that one. That way you can set up one folder per subject with subfolders for its chapters. New summaries you start inside an open folder land right there, too.

Move summaries

Tap the three dots on a summary, then Move to folder. Under Move to, pick a folder, or tap New folder to create one on the spot. Choose Summaries there to take it back out of its folder.

Several at onceOpen the View and sorting menu and tap Select. Mark the summaries you want, then tap Move at the bottom.

Edit and delete folders

Tap a folder's name to open its menu. There you'll find:

  • Colour & symbol to change its color and subject symbol,
  • Rename for a new name,
  • Move to folder to put it inside another folder,
  • Add to favourites to mark it as a favorite,
  • Delete folder.
Deleting is permanentIf you delete a folder under Summaries, all the summaries in it are deleted too. This can't be undone, so move anything you want to keep first.

Sort and find

In the View and sorting menu, choose Last changed or Name, and Grid or List. With Last changed, whatever you opened or edited most recently is at the top, and folders sit in the list based on when you last worked in them.

Tap the star to show only your favorites. Search finds titles, content and key terms. On a tablet you can also filter by recordings, documents, photos and links.

Folders and notebooks

Folders are shared between Summaries and Notebooks. A “Biology” folder shows your summaries under Summaries and your notebooks for the same subject under Notebooks. If you delete a folder under Summaries, the notebooks in it are kept, and the folder stays for them.

Common questions

Yes. Open a folder and create a new one inside it, or use Move to folder in a folder's menu.
Last changed also takes into account what you last opened on that device, so the order can differ between devices.
No. Deleted folders and the summaries in them can't be restored.
