In short
  1. Under New summary you choose Document, Photos, Web link, Audio file, Text or a notebook.
  2. A PDF can be up to 32 MB, an audio file up to 25 MB, and you can add up to 10 photos.
  3. Add a source lets you combine several sources into one summary.

Lecture slides, photos of the board, an article or a recording you already have: Hazelnote turns any of them into a summary you can learn from. Here's what you can upload and what to watch out for.

How to upload something

  1. Pick a sourceIn Summaries, tap New summary and choose a source.
  2. Add itPick the file or photos, or paste the link. The source shows up under What goes in?.
  3. Create itChoose a length and tap Create summary.

PDFs and text files

Under Document you pick a PDF, including scanned pages saved as a PDF, or a text file (.txt, .md, .csv or .json). A PDF can be up to 32 MB. If a document is too long for one go, split it up and summarize the chapters one by one.

Password-protected PDFsA PDF with a password can't be read. Save it again as a PDF without the protection, then try once more.

Photos

Under Photos, choose Take a photo for a board, slide or book page, or From your library. Up to 10 pictures become one summary, in the order you pick them. Printed text is read, and so is handwriting. If you pick more than 10, the first 10 go in.

Under Web link you paste the address of an article or web page. Pages behind a login or a paywall can't be opened, so use a freely readable article or paste the text instead. Videos can't be summarized yet. In that case, paste the transcript as Text.

Audio files, text and notebooks

  • Audio file: an existing recording, such as MP3, M4A or WAV, up to 25 MB and at least 12 seconds long.
  • Text: paste it in or type it yourself, at least 20 characters.
  • From a notebook: Hazelnote summarizes your own handwritten notes from a notebook.

Several sources in one summary

Under What goes in?, tap Add a source, for example to add the slides and the photos of the board from the same class. The button then reads something like Summarise 2 sources. The AI connects everything into one summary.

Write right on a PDFIf you want to write on the pages of a PDF, import it under Notebooks with New and Import PDF. Files can be bigger there: 50 MB with Essential, 100 MB with Pro. More on Notebook and AI pen.
