You start the switch in the app. The App Store or Google Play, wherever you subscribed, confirms it.

Hazelnote has two plans: Essential and Pro. Both come with different billing periods, such as monthly or yearly. You can switch at any time without canceling first.

How to switch in the app

Open Manage subscriptionTap your avatar in the top right. In Profile & settings, under Subscription & purchases, tap Manage subscription.
Pick a planTap Change plan or period. Use the toggle to pick Essential or Pro, then choose a billing period below it, such as Yearly or Monthly.
Confirm in the storeTap Unlock Pro or Unlock Essential and confirm in the Apple or Google purchase sheet.

If you pick the plan you already have, the button reads Your current plan, so you can see right away what you're on.

Switch in the right storeUnder Manage subscription, Billed through shows whether your subscription runs through the App Store or Google Play. Switch on a device that uses that store. Otherwise you start a second subscription in the other store.

When the new plan starts

The store you pay through decides when a switch takes effect. For Hazelnote it works like this:

To Pro: The switch takes effect right away. The store gives you a prorated credit for the time left on your old plan.
To Essential: Pro keeps running until the end of the period you paid for. After that, you continue on Essential.
Another period on the same plan: On Google Play it starts right away and the remaining time is credited. On Apple it may only start at your next renewal.

What changes with your plan

Your content stays whenever you switch. What changes are the features and your AI allowance. Pro adds the AI tutor, audio versions, study goals with a study plan, practice exams, the AI pen and focus lock, plus a bigger AI allowance.

If you switch to Essential, those features are locked from then on. Anything you made with Pro stays saved: your study goals and audio versions come back as soon as you switch back to Pro. All the differences are on our pricing page.

The AI Pass is a separate subscription

The AI Pass raises your AI allowance and runs alongside your plan. Changing plans doesn't touch it. You add it in Profile & settings under AI Pass and cancel it in the store like any subscription, see Cancel your subscription.

Common questions

No. Just pick the new plan. The store replaces your current subscription with the new one.

No. The free trial is for your first subscription. Switching doesn't start a new one.

In Profile & settings, at the top under Your plan, for example Pro · yearly. Manage subscription also shows when your subscription renews.

Your subscription works on every device where you're signed in with your account. To change the plan, though, you go through Google Play, so on an Android device. If you no longer have one, cancel on Google Play and start a new subscription on your iPhone, ideally once the old one has ended.
